Trading Coach for Women
Trading Coach for Women
Women are underrepresented in trading, but not because of capability. The barriers are different, and the psychological challenges that follow are different too.
Kim Ann Curtin is a trading coach for women who brings lived experience to this work, both as a woman who built a career in professional financial services and as a coach who has worked alongside women navigating the specific psychological landscape of trading. The imposter syndrome that surfaces on a live account. The risk aversion that appears under social pressure. The particular weight of being in a minority in a room, or an industry, that wasn’t built with you in mind.
How Coaching Works
The TPI Assessment
A clear, data-grounded picture of your risk tolerance, confidence patterns, and cognitive flexibility to start from.
One-on-One Sessions
Direct work on the second-guessing loop, imposter syndrome, and identity-P&L conflation that show up in your trading.
Built on Your Strengths
Tools that build on the discipline and lower overconfidence research shows women traders already carry.
The Psychology of Trading as a Woman
Research consistently shows that women tend to be more disciplined and less overconfident than male counterparts in financial markets, an edge that’s real and measurable. At the same time, women are more likely to underestimate their own competence, second-guess sound decisions, and feel the psychological weight of environments where they’re in the minority.
Coaching with Kim addresses both sides: building on the genuine psychological strengths that women traders often carry, while working directly on the patterns that get in the way.
What Kim Works on
Confidence and conviction
trusting your analysis and acting on it without the second-guessing loop
Risk tolerance calibration
distinguishing between healthy risk management and fear-driven undersizing
Imposter syndrome
the internal narrative that you don’t belong in the market, or haven’t yet “earned” the right to trade larger
Identity and markets
separating your sense of self-worth from your P&L, which research shows women are particularly prone to conflating
Environment and community
navigating trading communities and workplaces that can be discouraging or isolating
